OPEN THIS SUNDAY

Dates still open this month and into the Fall, get in on the action. Check availability online or give us a call for dates.

7/20/10 The Barta tournament this past weekend was a success as far as participation and fun for the kids. It also raised a nice bit of money for our local Boys and Girls Club. The weather was a different story, SW 20 and gusty, big seas. There were some Sails and Dolphin for the boats out of the fleet that ventured out. Not the fishing we had the weekend before, but it was very weather dependent.

The days since the tournament has seen more of the unrelenting SW flow. We have had to cancel every date since Saturday due to winds. Blown out again today, hopefully we will get out tomorrow. Forecast for the weekend looks great and we are OPEN Sunday. If interested give us a call. August and the Fall are starting to book, but we still have plenty of dates available. The Marlin action will only get better, White Marlin and Sail fishing usually peaks Aug into Sept. Usually plenty of Meat fish as well. Get in on the action.

7/14/10 Blown out today, SW winds and squalls. Yesterday our charters kids did not feel so well in the SW swell, so we made an inshore day of it. 56 Spanish and a dozen Bluefish in about 35 min, before they said go home. Short day, but plenty of fish. Monday the fleet went chasing the Marlin bite from Sunday. The current pushed in overnight and the fish had pushed up the beach twenty miles. The bite was good. But not like Sunday. The Bill Collector ended the day with four Sails and a handful of Dolphin. The Impulse had a group of Waterfront Captains and Mates onboard and scored a Grand Slam with an extra Sail. The Fighting Lady, Captained by Pete Zook, caught three Whites. Frequent Flyer ended the day with three Sails and a White. Several of the local private boats saw good Marlin action as well. The Hatteras fleet ran to the South and also had several flags. The next body of good water seems to be pushing up, so hopefully we see more good action for the Barta tournament this weekend.

7/11/10 Dolphin fishing started off slow since last report for a couple of days, with one real slow day last week. However that changed quickly. Limits of dolphin five out of the last few days, with some mixed in Gaffers. Two citation Wahoo this past week along with a couple of Whites. Today things went off, most boats had limits of Dolphin early and the Marlin bite was on. The Bill Collector finished the day with 57 Dolphin, four Whites and three Sails. Six boats made it offshore today and had a total off thirty five releases. Great fishing and we still have dates open this month. July14th, 23rd,25th,26th and 27th are open. Get in on the action, give us a call.

The bills tried to bite a little, we saw four fish, another boat saw three, every boat had at least a shot. When the day ended only one private boat scored with a White. Its getting to be the time for Marlin, Whites and Sails, its good to see a few show up. Most of the fish seen yesterday were lazy. Hopefully they will be more user friendly this weekend. 5/3/10 We were back fishing this past Thursday. The meat bite was slow, still dealing with cold water on the 50 fathom. Same thing on Friday. Bait marks every where but slow on the bites. That all changed Saturday during the second annual Reeling For Research Tournament. A filament of blended 70.5 degree water pushed into the same area we fished on Friday. The Wahoo’s decided to bite. At the end of the day we bagged nine nice Wahoo and two big Black Fin Tuna. The Bill Collector’s charter, Allen Cook and team won the thirty boat event for the second year in a row. The aggregate weight of three Wahoo’s , a 46lb, 45lb, and a 33lb. put us over the top. This is a charity event to raise money for the UNC Children’s Hospital. This years event wrote the charity a check for fifty eight thousand dollars. Pretty cool……….We were back out Sunday, cold water had moved in and slowed things back down. We are still dealing with cold water conditions, but did manage three nice Yellow Fin. A couple around 50 lb and a 40lb. A small low pushes across tomorrow and good weather Thursday through weekend.

4/13/10 Good weather finally and good fishing. Saturday there was still cold water conditions on the 50 fathom. We fished overboard all day, hit the Yellow Fins once, caught four nice class fish. The beautiful day ended with Dolphin an Tuna. Sunday was even calmer with slow Tuna fishing, however the Dolphin made up for it. Monday was about as nice as it can be. The Yellow Fins cooperated a little better. We ended the day with seven nice Tuna and five big Jacks. The Frequent Flyer had a good day as well, with one out of two Blue Marlin and a catch of Dolphin.

3/6/10 The weather has finally turned nice for a couple of days. We have just finished up with repairs and are ready to fish. No one has been offshore from the Big Rock Landing yet. A lot of the boats are in the yard or just getting back overboard. Capt. Ken Krammer was supposed to fish today on the private boat Sea Hag. Conditions on the satellite shot look great. My dock partner, Capt. Dale, is fishing out of Hatteras with the Tag a Giant crowed. They tagged fourteen BFT on Sunday and a dozen yesterday. One hundred to two hundred pounders.

We have plenty of prime spring dates still open, especially late March and April for Yellow Fin Tuna.

Also, over the next couple of weeks if someone is interested in BFT fishing for two or three days , we can take the boat to Hatteras. Come get in on the action, go fishing.

3/1/10 We are back in the water. There are a couple of maintenance items to finish up and we will be ready to fish by next week. The winter weather still has not let up, however the satellite info shows good water offshore and the long line boats working have been packing out nice Yellow Fins. If the cool weather doesn’t bother ya the early spring can be great fishing. If cabin fever has ya come go fishing. We still are looking for a group of ladies that want to fish the Ladies Big Rock. Check out our online calendar for availability or just give us a call.

2/8/10 The Bill Collector is almost done with seasonal maintenance and service at Jarrett Bay. The cool weather has delayed us , we need a couple of days above fifty degrees for some paint work and we will be ready to splash. She should be in the water and ready to fish March 1st.

01/23/10 The Bill Collector heads to the yard on Friday. Hopefully it will be a short turn around and we will get back overboard soon. The BFT fishing has been almost none existent the last couple of weeks. The late season offshore and king fishing has still been good for those that have ventured out between fronts. We are excited about getting in on an early run of Yellow Fin Tuna this spring. The last few years we have seen great numbers and fishing starting late February and getting better in March. For those of you that don’t mind a little cool weather, you can have great Tuna action early. Our calendar is starting to book for 2010, however we still have plenty of dates to chose from. Get in on the early action and fill up those freezers. We are planning to be out of the yard and be available to run trips starting March 1st.

01/2/10 Happy New Year! The winds of winter are blowing, we get a front about every three days. The BFT fishing fell off the week before Christmas. There have been a couple of OK days since. Huge fleet every day. The Bill Collector heads to the Jarrett Bay Yard the end of the month for seasonal maintenance. We will be back and ready to fish March 1st. The calendar is starting to book, but we still have plenty of dates to choose from. The Yellow fin Tuna should be thick by early spring with the Dolphin and Marlin to soon follow. Get in on the fishing action, give us a call.

12/23/09 The Bill Collector has been commercial fishing the past few days. We have managed to land two nice BFT one a 328lb dresser and the second a 228lb. dresser. There have been some BFT around, however not a turkey shoot. Fifty to seventy boats a day fishing for them. Best yet was 15 BFT for the fleet in a single day. The fish have had a nice size. There does seem to be plenty of Kings, Wahoo and Black fin offshore. We will be running through the end of January, head to the yard for February and be fishing March 1st 2010. There are still plenty of open dates for 2010.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I hope to be fishing with all our great customers in 2010.

Tight Line,

Capt. Stephen
